Jaron Lanier: Computer Scientist, Founder of Virtual Reality, and Celebrated Author
Description
Being human in our technological age demands a serious and critical engagement with our rapidly changing philosophical milieu. We must ask, "what does it mean to flourish in today's technological world?"; "where are we going?"; and "what does it mean to be a human"? For three years, the scholars of the Human Flourishing project have wrestled deeply with these questions, and now they will make their research more widely available. Join us this winter to learn from leading scholars about key aspects of what it means to be human in a technological age: personhood, embodied cognition, leisure, transhumanism, and more.
Featuring
Jens Zimmermann, John Behr, Thomas Fuchs, and several other leading scholars.
These lectures are free to the public, with support from the Issachar Fund and hosted in collaboration with Regent College, Vancouver, BC.
